Fifty words? Fifty photos? Fifty weeks?
No, not exactly.
It refers to the focal length of the first lens I ever got for my first DSLR camera: 50mm. That lens gave birth to an excitement and curiosity for photography that continues to this day, and since the spring of 2013 I have used this website as a way to hold myself accountable for taking photos on a regular basis as well as showcase what I feel are some of my better photos. For a while I used only the 50mm f/1.8 for these pictures, but I have since branched off into other lenses as my collection of gear has grown. The result is still the same though: one photo each week, along with written and audio commentary from me about how I shot it.
I was interviewed about this project by Frederick Johnson on This Week in Photo, as well as by Jenny Stein on TWiP Family.
If you’re new to digital photography or a seasoned veteran, I hope you find something here that interests, excites, or inspires you. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you on Wednesday morning.
