To wrap up 2019* I wanted to take a look back at the past year, and even farther, and talk about where things with Weekly Fifty have been, where they are now, and where I see them going in the new year and beyond.
*I know we still have almost two weeks left in the year, but I figure this is close enough :)

Well, Simon, that was very nice to have a face behind that Nifty Fifty. I too have a 50mm 1.4 Canon lens. It was my first lens I purchased for the camera. It’s been fun using that and I break it out now and again to try different things. I always have fun with it.
I look forward to all your postings and enjoy reading about them.
Thank you,
Tom Curry

Thanks Tom! I’ve heard a lot of good things about that Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens, and I bet you’ve gotten a lot of good photos with it!

Hi Simon, it’s nice to have a face with the voice! I learned about you when you were a guest on This Week In Photo Podcast. I subscribed to your blog and YouTube channel soon afterwards. I have a Nikon D750 and a 50mm f/1.4 lens along with the 24-120mm f/4 lens. I have to admit that I don’t get out and photograph as much as I should. I’ve used the excuse that I am too busy with my full-time job. You have inspired me to make photographing a priority, starting Jan 2020.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones! I look forward to new posts in the coming New Year!
Take care!
Linda

That’s outstanding to hear, Linda! I know what you mean about not having enough time for photography with a full-time job…I’m right there with you! I must admit sometimes I’ll go several days without picking up my camera, but then it’s always fun to get out and shoot even if I don’t even know what I’m aiming for :) Good luck with your renewed photography priorities in 2020, and I’m so glad to have you as a reader of Weekly Fifty!

Merry Christmas Simon. Yes, there is nothing like the pressure of a publishing deadline to teach solutions to problems, and improve your photography. Looking over your photos for a year or longer is a great idea. I find the deadline of a photo a day is very, very helpful in learning. I am now working on my 10th year at that. Keep up your excellent blog–wonderful to see and listen each time.
Simon says
Merle…you’ve done a photo a day for over ten years? That’s incredible! I’m always amazed at people who can keep up that kind of rigor, and I’m sure it has done wonders for your photography skills over the years. Tell you what–I’ll keep doing my blog, as long as you keep doing your daily photos! :)
Merle Plagge says
Well, I plan to keep going until I die–of course I may reach that point sooner than your blog, and I hope you continue your blog after that.

Thank you, Simon, for sharing the Weekly Fifty with us. I began my photography hobby after I retired. I basically started at square one with very little knowledge, but lots of desire. I found the Weekly Fifty by chance and began following you. I have learned so much from you. I appreciate your detailed explanations and try to follow your example. Thank you! Happy New Year to you and your family.

Carolana, your comment was humbling and made me smile so big :) I am so glad this blog has been helpful to you, and I hope you keep building your skills and exploring photography in 2020 and beyond!
